Questions families ask
Do I need a credit card for the free trial?
No. Sign up with your email and use Family Hub free for 30 days. Choose a plan whenever you’re ready; if you pick one during the trial, the first payment is only taken when the trial ends.
What happens when the trial ends?
If you haven’t chosen a plan, your hub is paused, not deleted. Everything you added is kept safe for 60 days, and choosing a plan opens it again straight away. After 60 days a paused hub is deleted for good. We’ll email you before that happens.
What do I need for the kitchen screen?
Any tablet or touch screen with a web browser works: an old iPad, an Android tablet, or a touch monitor. On the screen, open your hub’s address with /kiosk on the end and type the pairing code from Settings. Handy with a Raspberry Pi? There’s a ready-made Family Hub screen image too.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Family Hub works in any phone browser and you can add it to your home screen like an app. There’s also an Android app that sends notifications for reminders and chore approvals.
Which calendars can I connect?
Apple iCloud and other CalDAV calendars sync both ways, so events you add in Family Hub show up on your iPhone too. You can also subscribe to any calendar link, such as Google Calendar, Outlook, school, team or holiday calendars. A “calendar sync” is one connected account or calendar link.
Who counts as a family member?
Each person you add to your hub, grown-up or child, counts as one member, whether or not they sign in themselves.
Can I change or cancel my plan?
Any time, from your account at my.thefamilyhub.online. Upgrades apply straight away; cancelling keeps your hub running until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
Is our family’s information private?
Yes. Each family has its own separate hub and database, it’s backed up nightly, and we never sell data or show ads. See our privacy policy for the details.
Can I run Family Hub on my own server instead?
Yes. Family Hub is open source, so if you like tinkering you can host it yourself for free. The hosted plans are for families who’d rather we take care of the server, updates and backups.
